PCOS - Weight Loss Tips - Processed Foods

What is "Processed Foods" ? Any thing that is not natural and most likely anything that you enjoy eating. Foods that are prepackaged are all unnatural. "Natural Foods" are food that have very little to no changes to them. A good example of this would be fresh potatoes, butchered meat (not packaged meat), rice, fresh vegetables and frozen vegetables (little sodium).

Sodium will limit your weight loss goals because as we all know, salt helps retain water. If your eating a very large amount of Sodium (salt) in your foods, then this could be the reason why your not losing weight as quickly. 
Sodium is also added to various food products, both for taste and as a preservative. Thus, the more processed the food, the higher the sodium content is likely to be. Foods reconstituted with water (eg. soups, bouillon cubes, processed meats) also contain salt. Some of these added forms are monosodium glutamate, sodium nitrite, sodium saccharin, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), and sodium benzoate.

2 - Nutrisystem
3 - Weight Watchers Meals

All though the items listed above are suppose to be "diet" products and they do help people lose weight. However all three products above are all prepackage foods. This means they have even more sodium in order to preserve it's contents inside. Literally there are millions of food items we eat every single day that are loaded with Sodium (salt). So next time you shopping just stop and read the nutrition labels. The word sodium will be listed, you may be surprised about what you find.
